'00 2500 CTD ... auto tranny question

Q: im looking at a 00 ram 2500 with the cummins turbo diesel to replace my 96 ram 1500. the only thing that concerns me is that it has an auto tranny in it. i will be using this truck to pull my 18 flatbed trailer loaded with a 5500 to 6000 lb rig spare parts tools and camping gear etc. ive heard some bad things about the autos behind the 24v cummins. is there reason for concern should i keep looking for a truck with a manual thanks..... .
