Q: wrong its in a slave state. damn if youre gonna bitch about events that led to states rights conflict at least know those events. it bordered the north and the south. check a map. i didnt mean to stir up this much grief. i was merely picking on mike for being a yankee with southern empathy. sir! i may be many things but i am not a yankee! ^ and while you are correct that missouri did not secede from the union it quite nearly did. the governor claiborne jackson was all set to ally missouri with the confederacy except a large contingent of federal troops from st. louis came to jefferson city and chased him out of town. he atempted to set up a government in exile in a different part of the state but the yankees kept on his tail. historically speaking more missourians fought for the confederacy than for the union however they werent recognized as missourians since they joined up with other reb outfits since claibornes plan went haywire. mike history 101 in session again as part of the louisiana purchase territory missouri has belonged to three nations france spain and the united states. first claimed for france by lasalle in 1682 missouri was ceded to spain in 1762. by secret treaty in 1802 spain ceded the louisiana territory back to france. napoleon bonaparte anxious to rid himself of the vast and troublesome frontier sold it to the united states in 1803 for a total of $15000000. missouri was organized as a territory in 1812 and was admitted to the union as the 24th state on august 10 1821. missouri was the second state after louisiana of the louisiana purchase to be admitted to the union. in 1820 the missouri compromise was passed whereby missouri was to be admitted as a slave state and maine as a free state. although admitted as a slave state missouri nevertheless remained with the union throughout the civil war. .

sluggish starting and then it just cranked but not firing. if you pushed the gas when cracking it would start and run but as soon as you left off the gas it would shut off. then i tried to crank it normally a few minutes later and it started fine. batterys due for replacement. .

did the maintenance really get done properly or was the maintenance done on a mileage basis which is wrong for a rarely driven vehicle. all fluids should be replaced on a time basis if it has the coolant that came from the factory you could be in for some real suprises. same for brake fluid which you already experienced the first problem. all rubber hoses belts tires are suspect and should be replaced. all fluids should be flushed and replaced. fuel system should be cleaned out and recommended to replace fuel filter hopefully the fuel pump is not gunked up too much. it can be a gem with some extra maintenance work the fluids were flushed and replaced every three years or so and the oil changed at least 3 times a year. have a good mechanic that has lots of experience with the dodge trucks give it a complete going over. david i got this 1990 d150 with 318 and 3 speed auto after verifying through old service receipts that it was the real thing. it came from a small town and the owner used it rarely but regularly so i was told. paid 4200 because it is in almost new condition and as far as i can tell it really has only 19000 miles on it. it drove well when i tested it out but the front brakes stuck as i was driving it home creating a terrible stench complete with puffs of smoke from the wheel. i took it to a dealer and now will spend an additional 800 on fixing brakes. mechanic says beware at first because the truck may have more problems as a result of being idle for awhile. does anyone have any advice or experience with this sort of thing i thought i was getting the deal of a lifetime since the truck has such low mileage. how many miles can i expect this truck to go it has been fairly well maintained as far as i can tell. the previous owner kept all records and seems to have done the necessary maintenance. .
