Q: hi all does any one have any ideals or plans for a folding tail gate ramp to be used for dirt bikes and my snow blower snow blowers wheels are 22 wide so i figured needs to be 2 wide . my tail gate is just over 3 tall when open so i figure the ramp should be 7 to 8 long when open and has to be under 6 when folded as i have a short box truck tia scott try www.laramp.net you can buy it probably cheaper than you can make it. roy .

bob got a 92 ranger that has this setup. works real sweet. on pavement. would hate to have to access the spare in any of the numerous places out back of beyond that i have gotten myself into over the years. - nehmo thats the problem with the spare tire placement it should be readily accessible but you should only rarely have to use it. the requirements are almost contradictory. in the bed some cargo makes it difficult to access. takes up payload space. front of the grill adds to length of vehicle which is already hard to park. blocks air to the radiator. interferes with bumper. on top of the cab wind resistance. adds to top-heavy balance. on the back of the tailgate adds to length. adds to tailgate weight. interferes with bumper. under the bed in back factory position access may be a problem. im thinking about an under-the-bed cone and winch system but just using a ratcheting nylon strap for the winch. ill also have a couple of linked chains for safety in case the ratchet mechanism fails. -- ********************* * nehmo sergheyev * ********************* .

ive got a 2001 qc 1500 5.9l and looking at buying a 22 4500lb loaded trailer to tow. the dealership said i probably wont need a sway control add-on with this setup since its a light trailer with tandem axle. what are peoples experiences with lighter trailers is anti sway needed i will have a wd hitch. i have been told that anti sway devices limit turning abilities. i currently tow a 2500lb loaded popup trailer with no wd and no sway control but at 2500lb i cant even tell its there. does a ram 1500 with 5.9l handle towing 4500-5000lbs well what about climbing steep grades is the factory dodge tranny cooler sufficient or should i add an aftermarket what about a tranny temp gage add one to a custom a-piller thanks .

i dont know about the sway bars but my 5.9 pulls a 7000 lb loaded trailer with very little trouble. are you doing mountain roads or flat landing it i have a full height 5th wheel so the wind deflector helped a lot. my last 5th was about 4500 lbs and i had no issues with going through the mountains with it. if you have the tow package tranny cooler then you should be fine. mine has never shown a fault yet. i went up the hope princeton hill in second gear at 70 km/h and the temp didnt move. mark. ive got a 2001 qc 1500 5.9l and looking at buying a 22 4500lb loaded trailer to tow. i currently tow a 2500lb loaded popup trailer with no wd and no sway control but at 2500lb i cant even tell its there. does a ram 1500 with 5.9l handle towing 4500-5000lbs well what about climbing steep grades is the factory dodge tranny cooler sufficient or should i add an aftermarket what about a tranny temp gage add one to a custom a-piller thanks .

@austin.rr.com says... today i installed the powertrax no-slip in my 2002 dodge ram 1500 2wd. its a regular open differential. the installation while sometimes challenging for a first-timer went perfectly. everything was exactly by the book. no problemo!!! but... then came time for the final test. it failed. please can anybody help heres what happened to check to see if its working right you put the vehicle in gear e.g. park. the wheels wont turn in the same direction at the same time. thats correct. if somebody rolls the driver-side wheel until it stops a couple of inches and holds it against the stop the passenger-side wheel should roll freely in the opposite direction. it should do this in both directions. then just the opposite. when somebody holds the passenger-side wheel against the stop the drivers side wheel should turn freely in the opposite direction. it doesnt. when somebody holds the passenger-side wheel against the stop and you attempt to rotate the driver-side wheel the driver-side wheel hits the stop and the passenger side wheel suddenly starts slipping! any ideas im utterly exasperated. ron m. that sounds about right to me left side slips diff locks right side and visa-versa. am i missing something does it say to test it like you did in the manual -- remove x from email address to reply. .

i have a brand new dodge durango. almost right away i noticed that when i started it up after it was sitting for a while overnight or at the office that it would not go into 2nd gear right away. after going about 1/10 - 2/10 of a mile it would then shift into the correct gear. i called the dealer and told him about the problem and he said that this was normal. i have a hard time believing this is considered normal operation. has anybody else had this problem has anybody else brought it up to a dealer i would like to know .

even on the california dmv site they refer to driving as a privilege. http//www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/pgs06thru09.htm what does it say in bold in the middle of the page i would think the california department of motorvehicals might know what they are talking about. well here is a little clue for ya there pinhead. those roads are not owned by you. nowhere in the constitution does it say that you have the right to do whatever you wish on land that you do not own. and since you do not own the roads you dont have any right to operate a motor vehicle on them. at best the roads are community property that we have elected officials to control. since we do not individually own them it becomes a privilege to use them for the operation of a motor vehicle not a right and if the privilege is abused and possibly puts others in danger it can be taken away. this should be simple enough for even you to understand. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving that is such a bogus argument it doesnt even merit a response. t bone is right a real meat head! show me where the constitution does not delineate even one iddy biddy right. it is a limit on the powers of the federal govt. then again if you had stayed awake in class you might have learned that little point! lol please show me where in the constitution it states that you have the right to operate a motor vehicle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving yeah right. you must live in kansas another flat earther. as long as youre going to keep your head stuck in a hole at least pick a warm one... first of all driving is not a right it is a privilege oh boy heres that bullshit again it may be bullshit but it is still the truth. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

hello all thanks for the help from everyone. i had gone to this web page http//www.dieseltruckresource.com/showthread/t-36941.html. they have a person who posted there who had a diagram and everything! i went down and got a can of electrical contact cleaner. got back home and sprayed the tps shaft where it goes into the tps. then took a quick 20 mile trip mile down the freeway. before it would shift in and out at least 20 times. today perfect! i love you guys! ......dave ############################################################################ ##### hello all i have a 1995 dodge diesel with auto trans. here is my problem between about 65mph and 70mph where i spend most of my time the transmission will drop out of od. ie..the rpms increase. then it will go back into od. ie...rpms drop. this happens at low loads typically a level road or even a very slight downgrade. it will keep cycling every 30 seconds to a minute. this is a major pain in the ass! if i get over 70 problems goes away. if i am pulling a grade at any speed problem goes away. hope a smart dodge guy takes pity on me and tells me what the hell is going on. thanks for the help...dave .

does the 02 ram rear calipers work like other rear calipers in the fact that youre supposed to twist in the caliper instead of pushing in to gain the space for your pads - i had to remove the disk brake calipers so i could slide the axle in and out a few inches as is required. no big deal just two bolts holding on each caliper and then i hung it from the axle to keep the weight off the rubber hose. easy. but.... i had no idea that the brakes would close up after i took them off the rotor!!!!! the rotor was an inch thick but the brakes had closed up to about 1/2 an inch!!! what i did was get a 1/2 ratchet wrench then put a 12 socket extension on it. then i stuck the handle of the wrench between the brake pads and twisted it using the extension as a lever. it forced the pads far enough apart to get them back onto the rotor. it had me worried for a while there... -; .

hey robert i too am driving a 99 durango 4x4 automatic thats experiencing the same problem your durango is. im dropping it off at a trans place on monday morn. but im glad i read your post because i describe my problem to people like my trans is slipping. but youre right -- its not slipping; its having difficulty catching between gears. once its in gear its fine. but when its stuck i either have to let off the gas and let it catch or risk blowing the engine by stepping on the gas. i live in wnc with lots of slopes and each time i start climbing a hill or steep incline it gets stuck between gears. it also seems to get stuck lots when i start accelerating to make a turn. since i was a teen ive owned dodges. i leased a new 98 dakota when the new body style came out and it needed a new camshaft within one month of me driving it. also i had a ram 1500 after that and it had trans problems! my durango only has 48k miles. ill post the outcome here. rosathia .

i have a 96 6 cyl auto dekota that has a strange ticking sound. i know its not a valve. its coming from the front of the motor. i put a stethoscope to all the pulleys power steering pump water pump and alternator. the only thing i can think of and not get near while its running is the fan clutch. would one make a ticking sound later kevin in st. augustine a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem http//photos.yahoo.com/deadatdawn714 the 3.9 motor has had some strange noises coming from the timing chain but i would describe it more as a rattle type noise that a tick. the chain will stretch a bit and rattle against the inside of the cover. i cant say ive heard the fan clutch make a ticking noise. usually if there is no side to side play in the fan it is ok. denny .
